چکیده

Wedescribe a real-time highway surveillance system (RHSS), which operates autonomously to collect statistics (speed and volume) and generates incident alerts (e.g., stopped vehicles). The system is designed to optimize long-term real-time performance accuracy. It also provides convenient integration to an existing surveillance infrastructure with different levels of service. Innovations include a novel 3-D Hungarian algorithm which is utilized for object tracking and a practical, hands-off mechanism for camera calibration. Speed is estimated based on trajectories after mapping/alignment with respect to dominant paths learned based on an evolutionary dynamics model. The system, RHSS, is intensively evaluated under different scenarios such as rain, low-contrast and high-contrast lightings. Performance is presented in comparison to a current commercial product. The contribution is innovation of new technologies that enable hands-off calibration (i.e., automatic detection of vanishing points) and improved accuracy (i.e., illumination balancing, tracking via a new 3-D Hungarian algorithm, and re-initialization of background detection on-the-fly). Results indicate the capability and applicability of the proposed system in real-time and real-world

Moving Vehicle Tracking Using Disjoint View Multicameras

Multicamera vehicle tracking is a necessary part of any video-based intelligent transportation system for extracting different traffic parameters such as link travel times and origin/destination counts. In many applications, it is needed to locate traffic cameras disjoint from each other to cover a wide area. This paper presents a method for tracking moving vehicles in such camera networks. The...

Watershed Segmentation for Vehicle Classification and Counting

A robust video based system for the traffic surveillance system on the highway for vehicle detection, vehicle classification and counting for effective traffic analysis using only a single standard camera. The key goal of the proposed work is to successfully detect, track, classify and count the vehicle in partial occlusion and connected together by shadow on the highways. Marker-controlled wat...

Video-Based Vehicle Detection and Tracking Using Spatio-Temporal Maps

Surveillance video cameras have been increasingly deployed along roadways over the past decade. Automatic traffic data collection through surveillance video cameras is highly desirable. However, sight-degrading factors and camera vibrations make it an extremely challenging task. In this paper, a computer-vision based algorithm for vehicle detection and tracking is presented, implemented, and te...
